The Land
The house is in a peaceful, sheltered spot underneath the Pania di Corfino in the Apennines. The elevation (641 m) means that even on a hot Tuscan summer’s day, the evening brings a gentle cooling breeze. In winter, the plentiful supplies of wood mean the house is cosy even if there is snow outside. It is the last house at the bottom of a small village (NB. You have to walk the last 200 m down the steep village path) and is surrounded by terraced land, an orchard, a small stream and a ‘den’ amongst the trees for the children. There is a covered eating area near the house to eat al fresco and make the most of the views over the Apuan Alps and watch the wildlife in the evening.
